PROGRAMMING BAY
![]() |
I
made the programming plate from good old mat board. There's an old
microphone jack converter in there. The tape reel is fake - just made
from three pieces of mat board, and painted gray and brown like recording
tape. One switch used to work until some sparks started coming out,
so I quickly disconnected it. I guess it was originally made in December
by an independent contractor (Al Brown?). |

My
original was kind of crappie, so I decided to do it right. The vent door
never opened and the plate inside was too small. I got the Dremel and
cut out everything that needed cutting out. This was the hardest thing
I've done to improve my B-9 since I first started as it all had to be
done from the outside. It took about a week to get this more or less right. |
UPDATE 2

A
new programming bay for the new torso. It's still made from mat board though!
People laugh, but you could almost stand on that thing without crushing
it. The price is right too - many framing stores will give you the leftover
scraps. It's painted with a hammertone silver. I still like that pilot light being lit even though it wasn't in the series. The track for the vent is already installed in the torso. I still have to get another toggle switch. |
