BRAIN
![]() |
The
main part of this brain was made from mat board. All details were cut
out with an X acto and a utility knife. I found an old color wheel motor that had to be at least 35 years old, and it gave the proper rotation for the crown (also made from mat board). I may use shiny metallic tape on the underside of the crown to reflect more light. The wiring is an electrician's nightmare, but it works. Like the torso lights, this is run from the same string of chaser lights, taken apart and replaced with amber and red bulbs as required. It was purchased from Radio Shack many years ago for about 12 bucks. Everything is 110 AC. |

After
looking at it for a few weeks I realized that my original brain was
a little too big, like 25% too big. The last thing I want is to go
to install the bubble and not have it fit. Things have been thrown
through my front window for less. Anyway, it was redone and I decided
to put bluish lights in the eyes, which was just my own touch. Actually
I think all the brain lights may be blue anyway. No matter. |
UPDATE |

|
I
found some plastic sphere halves on a Xmas decoration at a closeout
sale for $1.49 for the finger light bulbs. I glued the halves together
and sprayed them with amber Krylon translucent paint. I cut a hole
on the end and slipped it over the existing bulbs. It was a bit safer
than trying to make glass ones from flashlight bulbs. |

UPDATE 2

| The
sphere things I made in the above update were OK until I thought
of this. I used the same lenses used for the belly lights, all amber,
with clear bulbs from the chaser lights. I painted the threaded part
silver to simulate the base of the bulb and inserted it over the
end of a hypodermic needle plunger cover with the end cut off (I'm
not a junkie, have a diabetic cat). That whole thing fits onto a
copper rod which of course goes into the brain cup. |
